Early Years
Betty White had a deep love for the outdoors while she was a high school student. Despite her initial desire to become a park ranger, she soon gave up on her goal because, at the time, women couldn’t hold that position.
Instead, she developed a passion for writing and finally wrote a play for her high school theatre club in which she played the lead part. Her encounter made Her excited to pursue an acting career in the future and motivated well-known actresses of the era, including Jeanette MacDonald.

Career Beginnings
In 1939, the same year that the Second World War started, Betty White received her high school diploma. White, however, found acting and modeling as soon as she graduated from school despite the fact that the United States wouldn’t join the conflict for many years.
The war eventually caught up with America, though, and White’s early success as an actress came to an end as she put her country’s needs ahead of her own. She helped move military supplies across California as a volunteer for the American Women’s Voluntary Service.
Betty White attempted to enter the Los Angeles film industry after the war, but all the big studios rejected her. She turned to the radio sector after being informed she was attractive for photos. White earned a respectable living as a radio performer and soon made appearances on significant radio programs of the time.
Betty White big break happened when she partnered with Al Jarvis to host the 1949 television show Hollywood on Television. Betty White took over as the primary host after Jarvis departed the program in 1952. Before meeting game show host Allen Ludden in 1961, Betty White was married twice for a brief period of time. Two years later, the pair got married. White didn’t get remarried even though Ludden passed away in 1981 from stomach cancer. Since their mother had also passed away from cancer in 1961, she also served as the stepmother to Ludden’s three children from a previous marriage.
Actual Estate
Betty and Allen Ludden spent $170,000 on an unfinished piece of land in Carmel-by-the-Sea, California, in 1978. They then went ahead and built a 3,700 square foot, four-bedroom home with breathtaking seaside views. The building finish in 1981. Tragically, a few days after they finally settled in, Allen passed away. The house belonged to Betty for the remainder of her life.
